How to Make the Perfect Iced Tea

On hot days here in the Okanagan, there is nothing more refreshing than a glass of iced tea; not the one made from powder, but real tea that has been iced. To make the perfect glass of Iced Tea, instantly, is really easy.

Step 1: measure your loose tea (or bagged tea) as you normally would to make one 8 oz cup of hot tea.
Step 2: Add 4 oz of hot water. Let steep for the desired time, 2 to 10 minutes.
Step 3: Remove the loose tea or bag, add 4 oz of Ice.
Voila! You have Perfect Iced Tea.

If you would like to make a pitcher of Iced Tea, measure half hot water and half Ice.

Alternatively, you could make a full glass or pitcher of hot tea and chill it in the fridge for 2-12 hours.

Many times, we want to add a little sweetener to our tea to cut the bitter flavour or some of the tannins. I will often add honey, agave nectar, stevia, flavoured syrups or juice. Juice is a great option for kids, as it is a familiar flavour and can add additional nutrients to their summer beverage. Below is a list of possible flavour combinations.

Green Tea

- Lemon Juice and Honey, Stevia or alternative sweetener
- Peach Juice / Nectar
- Orange Juice
- Mango Juice
- Tropical Blend, including vegetable juices that include carrot
Chocolate Rooibos Blend
- Mint Leaves and Honey
- Berry Juice
- Mango Juice
- Peach Juice / Nectar
- Coconut Water
Chai Blend
- Mango Juice
Earl Grey
- Vanilla flavoured Syrup
